A Stranger Comes to Town
A young woman is found hung in the forest and Laurène and her team try to solve the case while welcoming the new prosecutor. There's more to solve: the disappearance of the mayor's daughter, and Laurène’s own kidnapping 20 years ago.
A Wolf’s Dream
Laurene comes face to face with a wolf which appears to be guarding a newborn baby hidden in a box. She undertakes to find the baby's parents, followed from afar by the mysterious animal. As everything rapidly becomes complicated, memories from her troubled past resurface.
The Void
An amateur caver emerges traumatised from a labyrinth of subterranean grottos where he says he lost his friend. Laurene tries to unravel fact from fiction in his witness statement before contemplating a perilous descent. At the same time, Cora thinks that the Mayor's daughter has been kidnapped by a mysterious group of activists who are leaving their marks on the walls of Villefranche.
We will no longer go to the woods
A traditional ritual of a school with mortals, which is producing tension in the city. Cora has visions of an underground network.

A Sabine barless shootout causes a hunt for a band of armed criminals. Cora and Romano spy on trucks that enter the forest each night.

A wife of a hero commits suicide locally. Laurelyne is sure that he is not what he appears to be and investigates on his own.

Siriani questions Bertrand about the disappearance of Marion. Nounours and Camille investigated the death of a man who knew the events of all his neighbors.

The truth about Marion finally comes to the surface. Bertrand gets violent. Lauren and Cora are caught in a dangerous plot.

I'm not far enough into the series to determine if the season is going to end successfully or how compelling the plot line is, but I was surprised by the humor in this dark and suspenseful series. I noticed it in E01, but not being a major component, I wasn't really looking for more. However, in E02, either I was just feeling well after a good sleep or the humor was even funnier - although mostly "tongue in cheek" more subtle humor. I enjoy films and series from many different countries and seeing how a culture presents their humor is one of the funnest things for me to discover.
Summary: In the small town of Villefrance the locals do their best to deal with the seemingly constant murders, secrets and strange things that happen in the forest. The plot develops steadily starting off with small clues and stories passing up to a dramatic reveal towards the end. Many people die, dark secrets are revealed and there is something unnatural lurking in the forest. A very shocking person turns out to be the culprit behind some of the major trouble in town. Personal opinion: Season 1 I really liked that each episode had its own little mini story incorporated into it. Laurene has quite a backstory and an unusual connection with the forest. The bad intentions of the mayor and his father and the odd occurrences add extra juicy drama. Overall the storyline is a bit slower paced. Seasons 2 Deaths continue throughout the second season, but the focus is more on the corruption and gang activity in town as well as the creature in the forest. I like that they shes more pogut on the thing in the woods as it is, to me, the most intriguing part of the show. There is a lot that was still left unexplained. I was happy to see that Laurene's daughter Cora was shown a bit more.
