The driver of Wratten's car is identified, and Gabriel and Joseph Bede are desperate to get to him first, but they find themselves in a three-horse race with a shadowy figure that always seems to be one step ahead of them.
Episode 3
Bede reluctantly finds himself in the driving secret of the drugs cartel. Meanwhile Gabriel continues to investigate the Wratten murder against his superior's instructions, and Honey discovers a secret.
Episode 4
Jay Wratten's insistence that Bob Harris is responsible for his uncle's murder causes problems for Bede's new business deal. Meanwhile Gabriel struggles to placate his ex-mistress and Gatehouse shows he'll go to great lengths to find Glickman.
Episode 5
Gatehouse finally tracks Glickman down with explosive consequences. Gabriel gets closer to finding out why he got shot and there's help for Bede's floundering business deal from an unexpected direction.
Episode 6
Gabriel uncovers some dark truths about Counterpoint which implicate his colleagues and Glickman warns him that Gatehouse will hunt him down. Bede gets one step closer to finally getting out of the drugs game.
Episode 7
Bede desperately tries to complete the final drug deal as his wife's condition deteriorates rapidly, while Gabriel is inexorably drawn to a shocking confrontation with Gatehouse.

The Shadow Line is a heavily stylised, dark and intricately plotted thriller from writer and director Hugo Blick. Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Detective Inspector Jonah Gabriel. A dogged cop with a bullet lodged in his brain but maybe with a dark past. Christopher Eccleston is criminal Joseph Bede. He has built up a fruit and flower supply business that acts as a front for drug smuggling but he wants to go straight. Gabriel comes into Bede's radar after the death of Harvey Wrattan, a drug importer. After his death, many disparate people are fighting to take over Wrattan's empire. There is an heightened brooding atmosphere in Blick's drama. It also has a absurdly black comic touch to it even in the violence. There are many side characters that are involved in the story such as Bede's wife suffering from the early stages of Alzheimer. Two actors who make a lasting impression are Stephen Rea and Anthony Sher.
