The Challenge

When Starlight House is burnt down, Jerrica and the Holograms go to Howard Sands, who offered the mansion in the battle of the bands contest. Jem and the Holograms put on a concert for him and explain what happened. He agrees to let the Starlight girls live in his mansion until the contest is over. This makes the Misfits angry so Eric sends Zipper to the mansion to plant a bomb to get Jem and the Holograms out. When they are invited to a yacht party, the Misfits crash and cause a ruckus, sending the yacht spinning out of control. Ashley's odd behavior is finally brought to Jerrica's attention. She doesn't have time to deal with her though since she's just signed a contract for Jem and the Holograms to headline a show at a Las Vegas casino. The Misfits are not happy when they learn that they're opening for their arch rivals. But Pizzazz comes up with a plan to steal the spotlight - a plan which puts Ashley on the spot.

Well...I loved this, at least as a child. I honestly haven't found a copy of this to watch as an adult...so I can't tell you if it stands the test of time like G.I. Joe does...or if it fails to hold the love like Brave Starr did. But, I do remember thinking that this was MTV for kids. Or at least it was what the cool kids watched. It was part New Wave and part children's adventure cartoon. So, it sort of gets the love from two ways. And even my father described it as "The Runaways meets Kiss." which was a little before my time as a child...but everyone loves The Runaways so he couldn't have meant it in a bad way.
