Then Why Don't We?

Marin and Wakana start to grow closer as he helps her create her cosplay. Though he's happy about the fact that Marin treats him the same way at school as anywhere else, he also starts to worry about the fact that other people think it's weird that they're hanging out. Are These Your Girlfriend's?

For Real?!

Marin and Wakana have a successful first cosplay event. Because of something Wakana said, Marin's mental and emotional state starts to change a little. Overall, this was a very pleasing and enjoyable anime. I am starting to get more into anime as a genre, and I decided to watch this since my Instagram feed was recommending me posts with this anime on it. So I got a Crunchyroll subscription to see, and I would say it was a good idea. I am finding myself to like anime more and I watch more of it cause I feel like a lot of the creators behind them have very strong material to work with or they are just very good at what they do coming up with a story and executing it well. And along with that, I think I am really enjoying these little slices of life stories that are set in an everyday world and has a story of characters interacting and getting to know each other. What I like most about this series is the characters. I think Gojo and Kitagawa have a really strong character from the start and their characteristics are consistent throughout. The audience is getting to know them as the characters get to know each other. You will remember the way they talk, act, and think. Personally, I think characters are the most important part of any story, movie, or TV show. And this show had some really memorable ones that kept me invested. I am also surprised how interesting I found the show for even things that you think wouldn't be, like when characters talk about their interests in detail. Speaking of, I commend the writers for actually researching about the stuff their characters are interested in because it makes the show feel more alive and authentic. I think overall, while the show isn't perfect, it was better than I anticipated and I really recommend this show for those who think they might have even remote interest. I hope also this comes out on a blu ray someday, I would definitely buy it.

My Dress Up Darling _(Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru)_ is a Slice of Life anime that is about a young high school age man named Wakana Gojo. Wakana is a quiet boy due to taking up his grandfather's prized art talent of making hina dolls. Such is the detail and concentration needed for a doll's creation that perfecting the craft has kept Wakana in quiet isolation most of his young years all the way through middle school to high school. To say the least, his social skills suffered, and his confidence has regulated him to a self-imposed background character in his life. That is until he has reason to talk to her... Enter Marin Kitagawa the pretty, popular, and outgoing social butterfly, whose infectious personality soon has her seeking out Wakana for help with her cosplay costume when she discovers his skill for using a sewing machine. Not only does this tall, good-natured, well-behaved guy have a knack for making clothing, Marin is delighted he doesn't find her love for cosplay strange for a girl her age. Marin is just as happy when Wakana's hina doll skills will let him accept nothing less than perfection when it comes to his costume designs for her. The pleasant surprise as a result to their partnership is slow blend of friendship, excitement, obstacles, discovery of new techniques, and people as Marin associates Wakana with the world of cosplay. As events proceed, Marin is finding out about new and evolving romantic feelings she is having for her tall, quiet-spoken, costume designer. Unknown to Marin, Wakana also has developing feelings that are coming to the forefront now that he is socializing a lot more with the pretty part-time magazine model. Can cosplay make the young couple more than working partners? As a guy who likes plenty of explosions, sci-fi effects, and scantily clad women with shapely legs and heavy cleavage, I have to say I was not put out by the first season of this title and the way it proceeded. Good luck in your viewing! -- Bob -- P.S. - This review is for the FIRST season only.
